Enkindled Spring

It's still quite cold, but nature is in full bloom and everything is growing fast. The grass seem to be greener than green and the reds richer than red itself.

One eye sees, the other feels

Sculpture by Wanda Pratschke. This divine piece sits at the Frankfurt international airport, and was taken by the painter Barbara von Enger between flights. We close for today with a few words on the seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter by Barbara von Enger, below.

Autumn is the creative season for the artist,
winter is for reflection and poetry. Spring is for thawing one's mind back to life, and summer is for being amongst the fruits in the wide, open countryside.

To ride a horse is to ride high in the sky

We finally managed to sneak a shot of the painter Barbara von Enger atop her horse. This was quite a difficult undertaking as Barbara prefers to ride in a camera free zone.

Barbara von Enger

It was once said that Barbara von Enger has the best smile in the art world. Yes, she does, and we also adore Barbara's strong, dark hair. The photo of Barbara von Enger was shot during Paris fashion week by fashion and culture journalist Fred of Easy Fashion.

The Artist's Shoe

What do painters/artists do after a week of creating and forming? They put on their dancing shoes and off they go for a spot of skanking. Image: Barbara von Enger's D&G gold pumps.
We dance for laughter,
we dance for tears, we dance for madness,
we dance for fears, we dance for hopes,
we dance for screams, we are the dancers,
we create the dreams.

Fashion memories

We were at the black-tie cocktail at The Plaza, New York, celebrating Harper's Bazaar's September "Icons" issue with the fanciful fashion and art set, and what an evening it was too. Since we are camera shy, here are some of the fancy offerings from that evening. Jeff Koons and Klaus Biesenbach, model, Alek Wek, Allegra Versace, Lady Gaga, and Donatella Versace. Von Enger, Barbara

Image of the painter Barbara von Enger in Paris by Julie Ansiau for French Vogue. What are we contemplating this week? Karl Lagerfeld's quote: A respectable appearance is sufficient to make people more interested in your soul.

At the height of laughter, the universe is flung into a kaleidoscope of new possibilities

Barbara von Enger shot by David of Nyanzi Report after the shows in Paris. Adore those orange earrings and her laughter. We leave you with this lovely quote by Fyodor Dostoyevsky below:

If you wish to glimpse inside a human soul and get to know a man, don't bother analyzing his ways of being silent, of talking, of weeping, of seeing how much he is moved by noble ideas; you will get better results if you just watch him laugh. If he laughs well, he's a good man.

Barbara von Enger, Paris

Image of Barbara von Enger arriving at the Elie Saab show  by Adam of Le 21eme.  We love the colour story here. See how the colours mingle together like friends at a dinner party. Must ask Barbara the history of her coat. It's divine! We wish you all a very radiant week. Be ye kind one to another.

Smile for me won't you

Image of Barbara von Enger by Vogue Italy at Milan fashion week. Click on image to enlarge. Fashion is always a force to be reckoned with, but nothing beats a warm, bright smile.

An ode to Spring

Image by Jamie Wdziekonski. We choose this image, as everything is bud and bloom in our world. Close not your eyes to the joy and bliss of nature's spring. Fashion is awake - floral blouses and trousers are everywhere!

The Artist, Peter Wiesman

Sketch by German artist, Peter Wiesmann. We are off to the 27 international Hyères festival of fashion and photography. At the Hyeres Festival one meets the most unusual, individual characters of fashion and photography. I heard news on the wind that the Hyeres festival was one of the first to recognise the extraordinary talents of Victor and Rolf.

We are hoping the weather will be fine for swimming. I plan to relax after the festival with sister and friends at our family house in Hyeres - the oldest resort town along the French riviera.

A cupcake or Two

Twin sister and I were busy in the kitchen on Sunday baking chocolate/orange cupcakes. She told me that the cupcake became popular after Carrie Bradshaw bit into one on Sex and the City.

Silly me, I didn't even know that. What I do know is that the term cupcake was first mentioned as far back as 1796 in American Cookery book by Amelia Simms, which we stumbled upon in the study.

We actually baked our cupcakes in individual pottery cups rather than muffin tins. This was the method of baking cupcakes before muffin tins became the norm. For a modern take on cupcakes I suggest using the muffin tin.

Spring is such a playful season. Throw a cupcake party with precious friends, add a little light music, few pots of golden tea, champagne, good weather and you're good to go. Online recipe HERE

Paris - Amongst the Colours

It is the color closest to light. In its utmost purity it always implies the nature of brightness and has a cheerful, serene, gently stimulating character. Hence, experience teaches us that yellow makes a thoroughly warm and comforting impression - Johann Wolfgang Goethe

Images: Yellow dress by Rene Storck, a painting from my ever expanding collection, sunny, yellow flowers from the garden, and new yellow shoes for spring.

The day is sparkling like precious jewels on a mannequin. Don't you just adore the ripeness of yellow? I think colours follow the changes in one's emotions, like the interaction between child and mother.

Off for a round of riding with twin sister and friends. It's too beautiful a day to remain indoors. See you all after the Easter holidays. Be ye kind one to another. xx
