I think art is good at looking back and looking forward. I don't think art is good at looking head-on. At the end of the day, people are more important than paintings-Damien Hirst
First picture by Gilles Gorriti, painter and piano player. Would love to sit and listen to Gilles at the piano. I wonder if his music is as sparkling as his paintings. This still life draws the mind back to the sun-dappled days of my childhood along the vibrantly colourful impressionistic French/Italian riviera.
Second picture: Rue du Vertbois, Paris. By Japanese painter, Takanori Oguiss, who spent a great part of his life capturing the spirited silent charm of Parisian side streets. I shall wander down the Rue du Vertbois this afternoon, walk in the footsteps of Oguiss, and draw Rue du Vertbois as I see it. Which of these paintings do you relate to? xx

Beautiful. I especially like #2!! xo
ReplyDeleteThe still life, my best friend owns a gallery and her mum is an artist and it just reminds me of being in their house, surrounded by still life paintings.
ReplyDeleteI love nr 1, the colors are so strong!!
ReplyDeletelove K
I love them both, but I think number two is what I feel the most from, when I view it a mass of memories pop into my mind and they are happy ones :)) Although I do love the colours from the first one and it reminds me that I need to eat ;) xox
ReplyDeleteNever heard of him before and i'm ashamed of myself. I'd love to have Rue du Vertbois in my house, I always enjoy the picturing of Paris from different artists. Beautiful! xx
ReplyDeleteOoh, what exquisite paintings - I LOVE! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous artwork...love the colors in the second one. Can't wait to see your rendition!!
ReplyDeleteLove the vibrant colours of the first one and the 'atmosphere' of the second one...difficult to pick one!
ReplyDeleteLove the peacefulness of the second one. I want to get in the painting and stroll around this road.
ReplyDeleteI love the tropical colours of the first painting but like the second one the most, I can tell it's Paris instantly. x
ReplyDeleteI love both, but if I had to pic it'd be the second. The perspective and depth makes me think about my future and moving towards the unknown. I know typical art historian writing a a narrative :), can't help it!! I hope you enjoy your time sketching
ReplyDeleteThe second one. I adore it.
ReplyDeleteI relate better to the street, while eating the fruit, lol.
ReplyDeleteBoth stunning

I can truly relate to both of them. Each one tells a story as do so many pictures. They are beautiful!

ReplyDeleteOh I love both! Both take me to places that I dream of. Nothing close to my reality unfortunately but dreams are a powerful thing. :) xoxo
